She's on our "Must Watch List" here at the Deadpit Bunker...I hope you all enjoy this interview brought to us by Aaron "Uncle Bill" Frye.

A Star on the Rise!

An interview with the beautiful Carrie Anne Fleming!

(Q): Can you tell us a little about your background?

(A): Sure! I was raised in America and Canadian soils. I was brought up in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Miami, Toronto, and Victoria British Columbia, but I was born in Nova Scotia. My parents owned a health food store there before their divorce when I was 2. My grandparents are British, Italian and Irish. Both my parents were born in Montréal.

(Q): How did you get your start in the entertainment industry, particularly in film?

(A): My very first audition was for Happy Gilmore. Which I got. My part was cut out, which was disappointing but, it did give me entrance into the Union of BC Actors, which lead me eventually to SAG. I auditioned for a very long time before landing anything ever again. It was really a struggle but I knew what I was doing.

(Q): Did you always intend to be an actress, or did you have other ideas for a career?

(A): Always intended to be an actress...but I would enjoy working with kids, or being a glass blower, or a plant pathologist doing landscaping...or a rock star, president, race car driver.

(Q): I have heard that you dated Adam Sandler for a brief time. If you don't mind me asking, what was that experience like at the time? Do you recall any amusing stories from the relationship?

(A): I wouldn't call what we did dating or a relationship. I was like 19 years old or something. Classic case of hell.

(Q): How did you get involved in the TV movie "Bloodsuckers"? Did you get the chance to work much with veteran horror and sci-fi actor Michael Ironside?

(A): No I didn't meet him. I worked with Dominic Zamprogna only. I was his wife but just in flashbacks.

(Q): How did you get the title role in the "Masters of Horror" episode "Jenifer"?

(A): I performed a improv infront of all the producers, and the director, his translator, his assistant, ect ect. My hair was pretty wild that day. I kinda went in angry, sweet, and full of myself.

(Q): You went through quiet a transformation in order to play the deformed title character in the episode. Take us through the makeup process you had to endure for "Jenifer".

(A): Howard Burger and his assistants Sarah and Mike would paint my body to cover my tattoos, then dirty up my nails, put on dried blood if the scene before had me eating something/someone. Then they would simply take off my makeup. It was lucky that my face is rather hideous with out makeup. No mask was much cheaper for the production....actually it was a gluing process. They'd tack it down and then apply makeup to the mask. I had 2 sets of dentures. One for day wear, one for when she was hungry. Then I had a beautiful lady, who I never want to see again because her job was to place these absolutely massive black contact lens's in my eyeballs. The dentures came with denture cream....denture cream is extremely sticky. I was always spitting. Very, very glamour baby.

(Q): What was it like to work with legendary horror director Dario Argento on the episode? Did he give you much input about how your character should behave?

(A): Dario is a fun loving, funny, witty, super intelligent on that energy level, where he can sense things in others. I know that he thinks very hard about everything he does. He was complimentary and passionate about everything I did with Jenifer. He also said "I can only say yes I like or no I don't like...you invent." So I got to go far and he rarely if ever pulled me back.

(Q): How did you approach the role of "Jenifer" as an actress?

(A): When I got the role Dario and I discussed how hard this shoot was going to be. He asked me to pray that we both survive. He called me every single day for 2 weeks. I ran a lot but not normally...i was like climbing trees and stalking dogs. I must have looked craaaazzzy. My approach is I think about the character 24/7. Unbalanced I know but I think each character deserves undivided attention. Especially someone like Jenifer. Sooo different than I.

(Q): I recently got the chance to see "The Toothfairy", and I thought the film was a very good modern horror tale. What was your overall experience like on the film?

(A): I had just finished Jenifer and I was very happy to be extremely girly and curled and tanned and on set with Chandra West. I think she is so pretty.

(Q): What was Chuck Bowman like as a director, and how did the experience contrast with being directed by someone like Dario Argento?

(A): Apples and Oranges my friend. Always a brand new experience. Chuck is very kind and gentle with everyone. He's a very good actors director. He started out as an actor so he is sensitive to our emotional well being always. Plus he's as handsome as a fireman coming to your rescue.

(Q): Your character in the film "Star"' seems to have a very lonely, inquisitive side. How close is the character of 'Star' to the real you? For that matter, how much of yourself do you lend to any character you play?

(A): Star wasn't very spiritual she was jaded and moving on with her life. She enjoyed being amongst a family setting for the time. She dresses inappropriately, is used to the attention that, that brings. Star was the closest,up to that point,to the real me. I use a lot of myself in all the characters I play. I've been studying my behavior in situations for my whole life, then you add what has happened to the character and that takes you, hopefully, to their place.

(Q): How would you describe the film to someone who hasn't had the privilege to see it yet?

(A): A horror take on the classic toothfairy fable. Great performances by the actors, especially the amazing actress Carrie Anne Fleming.

(Q): You have been involved in several horror films and horror projects? Are you a fan of the genre? If so, can you tell us some of your favorite horror films? Also, is there anyone involved in the genre who you really admire and would like to work with?

(A): Yes, big fan. I really liked Alien VS. Predator. I know I know but I really liked it. This super good movie called THEY. Army of Darkness...i could go on for days. I'd like to meet Bruce Campbell.

(Q): Please tell us about some of your upcoming film projects . Also, what else can we expect from you in the future?

(A): I'm working on a few things. A comedy called Good Luck Chuck. I'll be in the next season of the L WORD, as well as on Smallville. In the future I will be doing all I can to help the planet, help my family, help myself survive and thrive...and of course a clothing line, a perfume line... I'll be designing the new porsche 69. I'm very excited.
